The last 3 cars that I photographed in Amsterdam just happened to be Volvos. This is one of them, a red Volvo 123 GT Amazon that was produced between the years of 1967-1970.
What a cool looking car, so different than the typical boxy Volvo look that would emerge in the 1970s.
Look at all that chrome. Chrome looks so good when it frames the windows like that. It makes the shape of the windows stand out, and it makes the paint job pop.
Here is a great look at what I am talking about.
The chrome strips on this car are some of the best I have seen. Love the round shapes.
This photo below really puts the size into perspective. The SUV looks massive compared to this mid-sized Volvo sedan.
Here is a closer look at the rear. So many cool features. The fins, the cool signal and brake lights incorporated in them, one hell of a trailer hitch, a nicely branded trunk handle, and interestingly a rear access to the fuel tank. Love the chrome wrapped tail lights…amazing.
I would say this car is more influenced by 1950s design than the 1960s. This is because there were earlier versions of the Amazon before this Volvo 123 GT model.
So, there you have it the wonderful Volvo 123 GT Amazon in fantastic condition found in Amsterdam!
