Stumbled across this blueberry blue Triumph Spitfire Mark IV in a Rome Italy back alley. This car was in production between the years 1970-1974.
This Spitfire appears to be a 1973 model based on it’s wood dashboard and steering wheel, and also because it is a hard-top. All in all, it’s a cool looking smaller two-seat sports car.
You can see the owner has a love for the Triumph.
And here we take a closer look at the rear. Love the chrome baggage carrier, and I always like to see a nice chrome bumper as opposed to a tasteless plastic design you see today.
The Triumph Spitfire Mark IV is based on a design that was produced for Standard-Triumph in 1957 by Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti.
I think the design is amazing for a few reasons. I like how the cockpit is slightly narrower compared to the rest of the body. I also like the hood of this car, very similar to the Porsche 911. Finally I like how the body width tapers from the front, along the doors, to the start of the rear of the vehicle where it widens again into the trunk. Cool lines.
