Here we have another great find from Prague. It’s not a car, but it certainly is a pretty cool looking van, the TAZ 1500 KAT!
TAZ is the acronym for Trnavské automobilové závody, an automobile manufacturer in Trnava, Slovakia that was manufacturing automobiles from 1973-1999. So no surprise that we find it today in the Czech Republic.
Just look at the lines and angles in this design, all sorts of things going on!!!
Now it is interesting to note that this particular vehicle was used in a variety of commercial formats, for example the Slovak Poste.
Looks like they were going for some kind of aerodynamics with that triangular back end.
Let’s take a look at the front of the van.
Very nice headlights. Those round ones will help spot any hidden address waiting for a parcel or envelope. Bet those were potent high beams for that era. Fog lights too.
Another canary yellow beauty.
This van looks like it could hold a lot of cargo. No wonder the postal service used it.
Another great example of protruding signal indicators and high quality colourful plastic lights.
Looks like this one is poised to make a getaway!
Flick on that left indicator and lay a patch! See ya…
So, welcome to the world of the wonderful TAZ 1500 KAT!
