It can be very difficult to identify some of the cars that I have photographed around Europe. Especially those discovered in Eastern Europe. This beautiful red car was not obviously marked in any way, so I was not sure exactly what it was at the time. What I have learned over time, and through research is that a Fiat is often the origin of other cars found in Russia, or ... This is an interesting car. Another fantastic looking pale blue car, a Murat 124 found in Istanbul, Turkey. It kind of looks like a Lada. This makes sense because it was this very car (actually the Fiat 124) that was the basis for the birth of the Lada which was produced in Russia until 1988 where it was known as the VAZ-2101, and the Lada 1200 in Eastern Europe.Nice ... We came across the Trabant 601 Universal in Berlin that has a nice looking sun visor on it. And here in Prague we come across the Trabant 601 Limousine that was produced between the years 1963-1990 by former East German auto maker VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau. The "Trabi" as it was called is a very simple and fun looking car. From the front angle it almost looks ... Check out this car!
This was a beauty that rolled by on the streets of Dresden, Germany.Luckily, I had my camera ready. This is the Wartburg 311 that was manufactured between 1956-1965 by the East German car manufacturer VEB Automobilwerk Eisenach. Most East German cars that I have seen as the Trabant 601 Deluxe Universal were rather simple in design, but this one here is looking good. ... Now this is one very beautiful simple car, the Zastava 101 found in Belgrade, Serbia. It has a striking glow in the dark yellow colour, I love it!This car was manufactured between 1971 and 2008 and was known by the nickname "Stojadin". Later on (and we will get to these models/editions) it was also known as the Zastava Scala and Yugo Scala, and was actually based on the ... Check out this car!
Perhaps Lada comes to mind first when you think about Russian cars. But here is another Russian produced automobile made by AZLK known as the Moskvitch 412 in Russia, and as the Moskvich 1500 to the West, this one found in Prague. This particular car is a circa 1970 model. All in all, it was manufactured between the years of 1967-1975.What a gorgeous shiny green paint ... Check out this car!
Here we have another great find from Prague. It's not a car, but it certainly is a pretty cool looking van, the TAZ 1500 KAT!TAZ is the acronym for Trnavské automobilové závody, an automobile manufacturer in Trnava, Slovakia that was manufacturing automobiles from 1973-1999. So no surprise that we find it today in the Czech Republic.Just look at the lines and angles ... Check out this car!
This is a very unusual, and unique car. Unusual and unique, because it appears to be a 2 door station wagon type vehicle. Crazy. It was produced by HQM Sachsenring GmbH, a company that had relatively brief history in time. Why? Because this is a car that was built in East Germany from 1963-1990.Here we have the Trabant 601 Deluxe Universal, likely one built in the ... Check out this car!
Introducing to you this white Zastava 128, spotted in Dubrovnik Croatia!Zastava you ask? The Zastava Automobile company was born in Serbia in the 1950's when a cooperation agreement was signed with Fiat. And so, they essentially began repackaging Fiat cars. The Zastava 128 came from the Fiat 128.This car was in production during the 1970's-1980's. Tough to nail down ... Check out this car!
