Now this is one beautifully designed car. What unique shapes and details. This car the Citroën D Super or DS seems to be the darling of Amsterdam. I have seen many, so you will more in posts to come. But, lets first start with this one found while cycling in the countryside, more specifically Broek in Waterland just North-East of Amsterdam.
This thing looks like a hovercraft or some kind of spacecraft! Perhaps it is because of the hydropneumatic suspension system it has. Hydraulics…hell yeah!
This car looks so sleek with the rear wheel covers. What an aerodynamic beauty.
I bet this thing flies, so aerodynamic, a pointy bullet!
Here is an interesting detail. Check out that chrome wrapped rear light that come down the side of the roof towards the rear window.
Here is a side angle of this rear light fixture. Very unique design.
And a look from the back. All the lights look so cool and are placed so perfectly. This thing must look really interesting at night time cruising along.
Take a look at those headlights. I’m not sure about this particular Citroën D Super, but versions had what are called “directional headlamps”. Behind that glass you see, the inboard high-beam headlamp could swivel by up to 80°. The idea being that as the driver steers so do the lights – right in the direction of where the car is going, so amazing!!!
Here is a look from the front, providing another great view of what might possibly be some directional headlights. The hood comes down so elegantly into that bumper. So good looking. I love the sharp edge to the bumper. An incredible executive cruiser for a beautiful Fall day.
Lets take a look at the side angle. Totally looks like some kind of spacecraft.
Gorgeous shape to that front hood, I like the lines that curve into the headlights, so cool.
So, there you have it a really unique looking classic car, the Citroën D Super considered by many classic car enthusiasts to be one of the most beautiful car designs ever.
