Here we have another beast of a Lincoln, specifically a 1980-1983 Lincoln Town Car found in Toronto. You can tell this particular model was in that date range because it was only in those years where you found the script “TOWN CAR” above the headlights.
I have to say, it is weird to think that Lincoln felt their car designs were going in the right direction in this era. I mean this Town Car just doesn’t compare to the beauty of what was going on with the 1968 Lincoln Continental or the 1979 Lincoln Continental Coupe. Can you imagine how different the drivers of each of the above mentioned Lincoln’s must be?
If you want to keep your street side parking spot clear of snow in the winter, this is how you do it. Just roll in a Town Car. And if required, you could open up 2 entire parking spaces for guests later on, simply move this tank into the driveway. This full-size luxury car (well sort of…lets say American luxury car) totally 1980s vehicle is almost as wide as the houses in this neighbourhood of East York, it is incredible!
Anyways, lets have a look at this monster.
I like that peek out window in the back seat area of the car.
Similar look up front to some of the later Continental’s with those funky front fins transitioning into the headlights.
Certainly, a battering ram bumper ever so popular in the 1970s and early 1980s. You can just picture someone cruising down an interstate highway with the car trip computer programmed, “move out of my way I’m in cruise control or feel the pain of my front bumper.”
An interesting car to look at nowadays, but at the same time as I said the design and the lines got tired.
Here’s a look from the back of the car. Another massive bumper, and a crazy looking brake light scenario look at that strip of red all the way across the back end.
Yeah, so this is the Lincoln Town Car Signature Series, as you can see on this gorgeous and luxurious vinyl side styling and roof top. There’s that back seat extra window again.
You can see that the windshield and actually all the windows have that grey/green tint to it. Just what you need if you are making long road trips.
It was in the 1980s that the Continental and the Town Car were made their own individual models. The Lincoln Continental was made a mid-size car, while the Town Car was made the full-size car of this era.
Interesting silver strip down the side of the car. I guess they wanted to maintain that 2-tone look.
Here is a closer look at the rear end of the car. All that red must have put out some serious glow in the night, but hey if you are a road trip warrior doing long hauls safety comes first!
So, there you have it a blast from the past, a 1980-1983 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series!
