After a few hours work yesterday morning, I decided it was time to get outside for a while. I explored my new neighbourhood, and bumped into this 1975 Mercury Cougar XR7. It is actually for sale if you want it. $2000 or less will get you this one.
I just love these long front hood cars with the cockpit in the rear of the car that were common to see in the 1970s. Having all that car up front must be a unique driving experience. Of course, I rather have a Corvette Stingray.
What a colour. Not sure what to call it. Orange? Lets take a look.
Can’t say enough about chrome and how good it looks in defining the lines of the overall design of a car.
Now that is one gorgeous looking bumper. We’ve seen other battering rams like this one. The 1975 Buick LeSabre Custom Convertible comes to mind.
Lets take a look from the front. Now that is a good looking front end. The tough chrome bumper, the grill the round headlights, and the wing shape to it are all so cool features.
Lets turn this baby around. Not quite as good looking as the front, but it does have some cool chrome detailed big red tail lights. This thing must glow at night from a distance.
Take a look at those awesome slightly tinted windows. The shapes are incredible. That pointy side window is fantastic.
The windshield is massive. A giant piece of glass!
Not only does this machine have a long front end but a very large back end and trunk too. You could tuck a lot away in there.
I feel like you could fit at least 8 people in this 2 door intermediate sized car, the 1975 Mercury Cougar XR7.
Here is a close up of the back end side window, nice looking cougar!
And one final look at the front and side angle. This is the third generation Cougar, and it was in 1974 that the Cougar shifted away from its pony car Ford Mustang origins.
So, there you have it a 1975 Mercury Cougar XR7!
