This is a very unusual, and unique car. Unusual and unique, because it appears to be a 2 door station wagon type vehicle. Crazy.
It was produced by HQM Sachsenring GmbH, a company that had relatively brief history in time. Why? Because this is a car that was built in East Germany from 1963-1990.
Here we have the Trabant 601 Deluxe Universal, likely one built in the 1970’s. Also known by former DDR citizens as the “Trabi”.
Dig the sun visor. A nice personal touch.
Oops, looks like it got caught in a Denver boot.
This thing could carry along a whole circus with that roomy back interior, not to mention the rack up top that is currently holding a spare tire.
Fins just make a car look so cool.
Now….a look at the other side of the Trabi.
A closer look at the fins from the back, and the DDR sign in the window. Love a chrome bumper.
Believe it or not, hilariously this car had a two-stroke engine all the way into the 1980’s.
Here is a great look at the front view of the Trabant 601 Deluxe Universal. Just look at those gorgeous round headlights.
This car was produced to provide the East German folks a cheap, reliable car that was easy to fix. Perhaps an equivalent option to the VW Beetle.
