Here is the first car I took a picture of during my 7 months in Europe, a red 1970s Citroën 2CV found in Lisbon Portugal, the first stop of over 45 spots visited in total during the adventure.
I love that roll out canvas sunroof, and the parking style. I almost feel like this car was parked perhaps before a wild night out on the town and forgotten.
2CV refers to “deux chevaux” or “deux chevaux-vapeur”. The Citroën 2CV was an economy car produced between the years 1948-1990. This one was perhaps assembled in Mangualde, Portugal.
Despite having simple looks, this car was actually considered quite technologically advanced and innovative in the early days.
Here’s a closer look at the rear wheel cover.
